About

I design products that help people make sense of complicated things.

Portrait of Kyle Garzia

I’ve been designing for over 20 years. The first half was print, editorial, brand. The kind of work where you obsess over kerning and paper stock. The second half pulled me into product design, where I found a different kind of obsession: understanding how people actually work, and building tools that make that work feel less heavy.

Most of my product career has been spent on operational platforms and data-intensive tools. The kind of software where there’s a lot on the screen because there’s a lot at stake. Dashboards that coaches rely on at 5am. Internal tools that affiliate managers use hundreds of times a day. Systems where “I can’t find it” isn’t a minor annoyance, it’s a real problem.

What I’ve gotten good at is sitting in that complexity and finding the calm in it. Not by hiding things or oversimplifying, but by listening to the people using the product, understanding their actual day, and then organizing the experience around what matters most to them.

I’m a collaborative designer. I like being in the room. Sketching on whiteboards, pulling apart wireframes with engineers, asking PMs the annoying “but why” questions. The best work I’ve done has always come from teams that think together, not designers who hand off comps.

These days I'm focused on what comes next. New tools, faster workflows, and finding better ways to close the gap between design intent and what actually ships.

Good design makes people feel like they know what to do next. That’s the bar I try to hit on everything.

Key Projects

How I work

  1. Understand the problem. I start with the actual workflow. Interviews, mapping, and spending time in the environment where the product lives. Not just screens.
  2. Define the system. I figure out how data, entry points, and edge cases connect across surfaces. This is where clarity starts.
  3. Explore quickly. Sketches, flows, and prototypes to get ideas in front of PMs, engineers, and stakeholders before anyone gets attached.
  4. Craft the experience. Clear interactions, realistic layouts, and a visual system that's intentional, not decorative.
  5. Iterate with real usage. Feedback from the people who actually use it. Clients, coaches, athletes. That's what shapes the final details.
